The idea for 4 Locals was born behind the counter of a Starbucks.
I was working as a shift lead on a quiet weekday morning — the kind where the rush ends at 9 AM and the store goes still. Then suddenly, my phone buzzed. It was a Starbucks app notification: “Earn extra points if you visit within the next two hours.”
Within minutes, what’s normally the slowest time of the day turned into one of the busiest. The store filled with guests eager to grab a coffee or a quick snack — all thanks to a simple, well-timed digital incentive.
That moment sparked a question in my mind:
What if small businesses could connect with their customers the same way big corporations do?
What if, instead of needing a store on every corner, local restaurants and cafes could work together in a shared ecosystem — one that rewards customers for choosing local and helps small businesses grow stronger together?
And that’s how 4 Locals was born.
